Peikko has delivered Gravity Foundation Technology for the Muukko Wind Park, located near Lappeenranta, South-East Finland. The project consists of eight wind turbines provided by Alstom manufacturer.

The solution deliveries comprise of necessary steel components for the foundation. Peikko is also responsible for the foundation design and structural calculations. The solution from Peikko also included a modified version of gravity foundation with an extended Anchor Cage height. Both reinforcement and design are supplied by Peikko, thus the quality control becomes easier and site work faster. The total construction time is reduced by using Peikko's solutions.

The client of this project is a Finnish energy company TuuliMuukko Oy, established in Lappeenranta in 2009, aiming to provide 200MW of wind power to Finland. The Muukko wind farm project is the first Nordic project for Alstom. The wind turbine producer equipped wind park with eight Alstom ECO110 wind turbines, 3.0MW each. The rotor of each turbine is 110 meters with a hub height of 90 meters.

At the time of construction, Muukko project is one of the biggest onshore wind farms in Finland with estimated annual electricity production of over 40GWh, covering demand of over 3000 households with electric heating. After completion of the wind farm, Alstom company is responsible for the operation and maintenance services of the wind farm for 12 years.
