DELTABEAM® Solves Headroom Issues in Hospital Expansion project in Nebraska.

The Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital Expansion project in Lincoln Nebraska broke ground in the spring of 2020. In addition to the new 112,000 square feet patient wing, the site, entrances and parking spaces will be renovated. As part of the new project, 59 new rooms will be built to replace those built in the early 1970s.

Madonna Rehabilitation Centers is the developer while Davis Design was responsible for the design and structural engineering of the project.

Construction is being done by Sampson Construction and the hollow-core slabs were provided by Concrete Industries Inc.

Having integrated fire resistance of up to 2 hours, providing a flush ceiling, as well as DELTABEAM® Composite Beam's good compatibility with other steel elements are the main reasons why DELTABEAM® was selected for this project. Also considered was the ease of installation and flexibility that DELTABEAM® offers in dealing with challenging geometric areas. Most importantly, the performance of DELTABEAM® and hollow-core slabs in reducing vibration was exceptionally important, since healthcare facility equipment is typically highly sensitive to vibration.

The expansion is expected to be completed by January 2023.
