Two circular buildings designed to resemble satellites become the new headquarters of the well-known shoe manufacturer.

The implementation is based on holistic architectural planning: a wood-concrete construction that allows flexible construction, extension and conversion, and an innovative technical energy concept are just two of the many highlights that promise a high feel-good factor for employees and customers.

Wood and concrete in a harmonious combination.
The wood-concrete construction of the Legero United campus made it possible to plan and erect the storeys spaciously and individually. In addition, it scores with numerous sustainable aspects as well as great economic advantages.

Visible wooden surfaces, possible installations on the underside of the ceiling in longitudinal and transverse directions as well as a limited number of bracing elements were important parameters in the decision for the wood-concrete composite ceiling. "The client expressed the wish to design the building for a possible later extension. Since the reinforced concrete slab above the ground floor serves as an intercepting slab, the dead weight of the structure above was an important criteria in the choice of building materials from the outset. In addition to these considerations, the architect's design idea naturally also played a central role in the development of the supporting structure," explains project partner Konrad Merz of merz kley partner ZT GmbH.

The use of the DELTABEAM® composite girder system in the entire legero united ring building not only enables a reduction in the construction height, but also a more flexible interior design and simple cable routing for heating and cooling the building. The fire protection integrated in the DELTABEAM® also saves the cost of the cladding.

The legero united campus was equipped with a 250 mm thick wood-concrete composite ceiling. By using DELTABEAM® as a support in the central axis, the construction height is reduced by 36 cm. In addition, a saving of approx. 170 m² can be achieved on the facade surface with the same usable room volume. But also the room volume relevant for heating and cooling could be reduced by about 1000 m³ per floor.

Peikko’s DELTABEAM® used with hybrid deck provide high feelgood factor for employees and customers, enable quick and economical building process, big spans allow very flexible use of office, minimizes surface of façade, enable easy addition of storey.
